ECO FLOWER POWER
With so many eco friendly suppliers of home accessories and furniture on the market it´s no surprise that we then question where our flowers come from or what chemicals have been used to cultivate them. So where do you buy flowers that adhere to the same environmental guidelines as our organic food stuffs and household products?
Despite their appealing loveliness in the shops, flowers certainly contribute to some of the air miles used as they are flown from around the globe to land in our supermarkets and sprayed with pesticides, but, organic interiors brand, Ochre and Ocre, who have followed the ethics of organic and sound eco production in home accessories, are now adding to their range with two exclusive floral designs meaning your dining table can be 100% organic.
In keeping with their philosophy of working with small, ethically minded suppliers, Ochre & Ocre have teamed up with Charlie Ryrie, a well established gardener and writer based on the Welsh Borders, to produce a hand tied bouquet and a gorgeous pair of posies, perfect for dressing your ldining table, and designed to compliment the Ochre & Ocre range of textiles.
Charlie grows seasonal flowers without the use of any chemicals so naturally the bouquets will alter depending on the season, (and the weather!); herbaceous perennials are the mainstays, along with a wide variety of annuals bulbs and shrubs - you won´t get lilies or delphiniums in March, or dahlias in May, you will get beautiful and often unusual seasonal varieties in glorious combinations – and every bouquet is carefully packaged in a specially designed cardboard box, wrapped in bio-degradeable cellophane substitute and recycled kraft paper.
Tess Heslop, founder of the stylish Ochre & Ocre label says of the range, “We already understand the importance of seasonal eating, so it seems a natural progression that our flowers are seasonal too. You can’t beat British garden flowers for making your home smell lovely”.
Bouquets can be ordered online at www.ochreandocre.com with 12% off for Wales at Home visitors by quoting WAH1.
