JAMIE OLIVER LAUNCHES NEW RANGE ´AT HOME´

When a friend from the interiors world recently called me up claiming that I just had to host a brand new party-plan range in my home I was dubious - we all know how these things work: buying things you don´t really need and spending far too much money…that was until I heard Jamie Oliver was behind it.

So, as Editor of Wales at Home, I thought it only my duty to play host to one of the first ´Jamie at Home´ parties in South Wales, and trial run the concept as the famous chef takes his new brand of kitchen products and accessories ´home´…

Showcasing an impressive collection of cooking and kitchen accessories, the catalogue includes the best basics such as mixing bowls with coloured trim, bone china from acclaimed British ceramists, Queensberry Hunt and effortlessly stylish wooden chopping boards and platters designed by Phil Longstaff; not to mention cutlery from Russell Pinch and a stylish glassware range, from which Jamie recommends the wine glasses for his Eton Mess recipe, played to ´party-goers´ through June.

By the end of the nigh, after much ´oohing and aahing´ over the gorgeous products, a fun food knowledge quiz and lots of recipe and serving tips from the man himself via an entertaining DVD, I have to admit to being impressed. Not only was this down to the amazing quality and range of products that I could view first hand in the comfort of my own home, but because I was suddenly earmarking many of the items for gifts, mainly for the ´Dad, Granddad, brother and husband´ categories that are normally so hard to buy for.

´What was my top buy?´ I hear you ask. An impressive ´Antipasti Platter´, 1000x156x290mm, £45, designed by Lincoln Rivers and crafted by carpenter, Toby Arnott from British oak gathered from sustainable forests in the Welsh Marches, all the while made to Jamie´s personal specification after he came up with the idea of ´raising food´ to make more space on the dining tables at a friend´s wedding. But, if you´re not catering ´en masse´, it´s an equally good way of display a modern array of food such as Italian antipasti - and when it´s not in use? Use it as extra worktop storage space and keep pretty jars, vintage crockery, wine glasses or oils and herbs on display in the kitchen.

Hold your own ´Jamie at Home´ party and benefit from lots of ´free product´s´ when sales from your party exceed £100, simply by getting in touch with your local consultant via the Jamie at Home website, www.jamieathome.com.
